Justin Serpone
Head Coach

Justin Serpone returns to the sideline for his 16th season in 2023. Currently, Serpone sits as the second winningest coach (by percentage) of any active coach in NCAA history, regardless of division (.833).

Serpone served as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Duke University in 2006, helping to lead the Blue Devils to an 18-4-1 record, the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Duke he worked as a head assistant coach at Lafayette College (2001-03) and Northwestern University (2003-06), notably helping the Wildcats compile a record of 31-20-10 after they were a combined 9-42-4 from 2001-2003.

Serpone has completed five graduate degrees. He is currently enrolled in two more Master’s Degree programs.

Amherst College

Dennis Bohn
Head Coach

In 23 seasons under the guidance of Dennis Bohn, the Lafayette men’s soccer program has produced nothing but winning teams. Bohn has led the Leopards to winning seasons in 15 of his 23 years on College Hill, three Patriot League championships and three NCAA Tournament berths. His overall record entering his 23rd season at Lafayette is 180-144-74. His overall Patriot League record is 80-75-36.

Lafayette garnered its third Patriot League Championship under Bohn in 2012 after the Leopards defeated American in the Patriot League Championship Game to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament and a meeting with Virginia in the first round. A late goal by the Cavaliers ended Lafayette’s championship year at 9-8-4, and also marked the first goal the Leopards surrendered to an opponent in 553:47 of game action, a streak the Leopards carried through the end of the regular season and into the NCAA Tournament

Lafayette College

Brian Bouhl
Assistant Coach

Brian Bouhl joined the Hoyas in 2018 as the volunteer assistant coach and he helped lead the Hoyas to the NCAA Championship in 2019.  Bouhl assists in all aspects of the program, with primary responsibility on coaching the Hoya goalkeepers and managing the sport science program.

In 2019, the Hoyas had a historic run winning the national championship with a 3-3 victory over Virginia that was decided in penalty kicks, 7-6.  GU finished the year with a mark of 20-1-3 which set the program record for wins in a season.  Georgetown also boasted the program’s first three-peat, winning the BIG EAST Championship for the third-consecutive year in a 3-1 victory over Providence College at Shaw Field.  It was just the second time in program history that the squad has won both the regular season and the championship in the same year.

Lamarr Peters
Assistant Coach

Coach Peters joined the Cornell Men’s Soccer staff in 2023. Previously, Peters was the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at SUNY Cortland.

From 2007-11, Peters was the head coach of the girls varsity soccer team at Lansing High. He led the team to five league and division titles, four sectional championships and two regional finals.

As a player, Peters was a three-year starter at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., helping lead the team to three NCAA Div. II playoff berths including an appearance in the national championship game in 1994. Following college, Peters competed professionally for the Michigan Bucks, Eastern Shore Sharks, Detroit Rockers and Windsor Borderstars.

Travis Wall
Head Coach

No stranger to central Ohio or the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), Travis Wall was hired as head coach of the Kenyon College men’s soccer program in July of 2023.

Wall, the former 2011 National Player of the Year at Ohio Wesleyan and native of Columbus, Ohio, takes command of the Owls after serving four seasons as head coach at St. Olaf College, an NCAA Division III institution in Northfield, Minnesota.

At Saint Olaf, Wall led one of the most impressive four-year turnarounds in NCAA Division III men’s soccer, transforming a program that was 4-13-1 and 5-13 in the two seasons preceding his arrival. In his first year, he led the team to a 9-9 regular season and an appearance in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) playoffs for the first time in five years. After being picked to finish eighth in the preseason coaches’ poll and going 2-8 in conference play the year prior, the Oles took sixth place with a 5-5 record, marking the largest year-to-year improvement in the conference.

Kenyon College

Jonathan Hood
Head Coach

Jonathan Hood, PhD was named the head coach of the Vassar men’s soccer program in the Spring of 2022. He previously served four years as the assistant coach for men’s soccer at Colorado College. During his tenure with the Tigers, he helped guide the squad to an NCAA Tournament appearance, the 2019 SCAC Regular Season Championship title, as well as earning 2019 SCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Through two seasons in Poughkeepsie, Hood has led Vassar to a 17-9-11 overall recrod, a 9-3-6 mark against conference rivals, two appearances in the Liberty League Championship, an NCAA Tournament berth, advacing to the Second Round in 2022.

In 2023, Hood led the Brewers to their sixth straight appearance in the Liberty League Championship. Individually, Hood mentored six All-Liberty League honorees in 2023, inlcuding Player of the Year Owen Fauth. Under Hood’s tutelege in 2023, Fauth went on to be named First Team All-Region III by teh United Soccer Coaches as well as a Third Team All-American.

Vassar College

Rob Brandell
Assistant Coach

Brandell joined the Hobart soccer staff in February of 2022.

In his first season on the sidelines for the Statesmen, Brandell guided the team to an 8-5-5 overall record.Hobart earned the six seed in the Liberty League tournament. The eight wins were highlighted by victories over seventh-ranked Rochester and 20th-ranked Clarkson.

Brandell came to Hobart after spending two years at Gettysburg College as an assistant coach on the soccer and tennis teams. In one season with the Bullets, he helped them to a 13-6-2 overall record. Gettysburg finished runner-up in the Centennial Conference tournament and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. He mentored six All-Centennial Conference selections and had nine players named to the Centennial Conference’s Academic Honor Roll.

Hobart College

Mike Toshak
Head Coach

A former Saints assistant coach who has had an outstanding career as an assistant in professional soccer, Mike Toshack was named the fourth head coach in program history in July 2015, relieving former head coach Bob Durocher, who was promoted to Director of Athletics and Recreation in May 2015.

The 2022 men’s soccer season was the eighth for Toshack, who led the Saints to Liberty League Championship in, 2022, and 2021, and to regular season and tournament titles in 2015, 2018, and 2022. In 2015, St. Lawrence finished that year with a 16-4-2 record and advanced as far as the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In 2018, and 2022 Toshack was named Liberty League Coach of the Year.

Tony Amolo
Head Coach

Coach Amolo is a graduate of Berkshire’s Class of 2013 and took over the soccer program in 2022 after five successful years as the assistant varsity boys coach. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Amolo played a pivotal role in helping transform Kenyon College men’s soccer program into a perennial top-10 team.

As a player, he amassed a career total of 121 points (50 goals and 21 assists)—third highest in the program’s history—and earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-American team twice.

Gabriel Robinson
Assistant Coach

Gabriel Robinson is entering his sixth season on the Lafayette men’s soccer coaching staff.

In the 2022 season, Robinson helped guide Lafayette to an overall record of 9-6-4. The Leopards finished the season ranked 25th in the country for team goals-against average (0.895). Six student-athletes were named to All-Patriot League teams and two earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region recognition. Along with on-field success, multiple Leopards earned recognition for their efforts in the classroom. Marcos Kitromilides was named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, Patriot League All-Academic and to the CSC Academic All District Team. Alex Sutton and Yiannis Panayides joined Kitromilides on the CSC Academic All District Team.

Jeff Huffman
Assistant Coach

Assistant Coach Jeff Huffman enters his sixth season at Amherst in 2023. This will be Huffman’s sixths season as men’s goalkeeper coach and fifth in the same role for the women’s team. In total, Huffman has seen 13 different goalkeepers on his teams receive individual postseason accolades in 18 seasons of collegiate soccer.

It was a special 2021 season for Huffman. The men’s side advanced to the national title game as his goalkeepers combined on the season for the most shutouts (15) and lowest goals against average (0.41) in all of Division III men’s soccer. Additionally, Kofi Hope-Gund was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. On the women’s side, Mika Fisher was named the United Soccer Coaches First Team All-America goalie in her debut collegiate season.

Amherst College

Alex Ortega
Assistant Coach

Alex Ortega completed his second season as Assistant Coach at Amherst College in 2023. In his two seasons with the program, Amherst amassed a 31-4-10 record while winning two NESCAC Championship titles.

Ortega comes from Randolph Macon College, where worked as an assistant coach since prior to the 2019 season.  The Yellow Jackets were 24-15-3 in his time. In 2021 RMC went 5-1-3 in conference play, its least league losses in one season since 1999.

Prior to his time with Randolph Macon, Ortega spent one season at Clark University. During his tenure with the Cougars, the team led the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for goals, assists and points. Clark’s 3.06 goals-per-game were a Top 15 mark in the nation.
