Justin Serpone
Head Coach

Justin Serpone returns to the sideline for his 16th season in 2023. Currently, Serpone sits as the second winningest coach (by percentage) of any active coach in NCAA history, regardless of division (.833).

Serpone served as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Duke University in 2006, helping to lead the Blue Devils to an 18-4-1 record, the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Duke he worked as a head assistant coach at Lafayette College (2001-03) and Northwestern University (2003-06), notably helping the Wildcats compile a record of 31-20-10 after they were a combined 9-42-4 from 2001-2003.

Serpone has completed five graduate degrees. He is currently enrolled in two more Master’s Degree programs.

Amherst College

Dennis Bohn
Head Coach

In 23 seasons under the guidance of Dennis Bohn, the Lafayette men’s soccer program has produced nothing but winning teams. Bohn has led the Leopards to winning seasons in 15 of his 23 years on College Hill, three Patriot League championships and three NCAA Tournament berths. His overall record entering his 23rd season at Lafayette is 180-144-74. His overall Patriot League record is 80-75-36.

Lafayette garnered its third Patriot League Championship under Bohn in 2012 after the Leopards defeated American in the Patriot League Championship Game to earn an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament and a meeting with Virginia in the first round. A late goal by the Cavaliers ended Lafayette’s championship year at 9-8-4, and also marked the first goal the Leopards surrendered to an opponent in 553:47 of game action, a streak the Leopards carried through the end of the regular season and into the NCAA Tournament.

Gaye Diadie
Assistant Coach

Diadie arrived in Evanston by way of Chicago State, where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for nearly two years. Diadie also served as an assistant coach for Texas United FC in USL 2 since December 2022.

In his time with the Cougars, Diadie, a former defensive midfielder during his playing career, worked primarily with the midfield and defensive corps. His other responsibilities included scouting student-athletes in the United States and internationally, developing tactical analyses for games and assisting team travel. He also oversaw the progress of the team’s student-athletes, with seven players named to the Academic All-MAC Team.

Andy Parker
Assistant Coach

Andy Parker enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Brown men’s soccer program in 2023-24.

Parker came to College Hill after serving as an assistant coach at UConn for six seasons. In his role, Parker assisted with recruiting, training sessions and film analysis while also developing a full-year goalkeeping training model. Under his tutelage, Parker helped former Husky Scott Levene transform into the American Athletic Conference’s most elite goalkeeper as he led the conference in goals-against average (0.77), save percentage (.792) and shutouts (8).

Brown University

Tim Stanton
Assistant Coach

Tim Stanton was named assistant men’s soccer coach in August 2023.

Stanton joins Colgate after seven years as an assistant coach at Colby College, a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) competing at the NCAA Division III level.

During his tenure with the Mules, Stanton collected a NESCAC championship and an NCAA tournament berth in 2018. Key wins during the 2018 season included victories against eventual NCAA champions, Tufts University, and Elite 8 participant, Amherst College. Stanton also recruited five All-NESCAC players during his time at Colby College, including 2021 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Ethan Franco.

Colgate University

Jonathan Hood
Head Coach

Jonathan Hood, PhD was named the head coach of the Vassar men’s soccer program in the Spring of 2022. He previously served four years as the assistant coach for men’s soccer at Colorado College. During his tenure with the Tigers, he helped guide the squad to an NCAA Tournament appearance, the 2019 SCAC Regular Season Championship title, as well as earning 2019 SCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

Through two seasons in Poughkeepsie, Hood has led Vassar to a 17-9-11 overall recrod, a 9-3-6 mark against conference rivals, two appearances in the Liberty League Championship, an NCAA Tournament berth, advacing to the Second Round in 2022.

In 2023, Hood led the Brewers to their sixth straight appearance in the Liberty League Championship. Individually, Hood mentored six All-Liberty League honorees in 2023, inlcuding Player of the Year Owen Fauth. Under Hood’s tutelege in 2023, Fauth went on to be named First Team All-Region III by teh United Soccer Coaches as well as a Third Team All-American.

Vassar College

Kevin Brenner
Head Coach

Kevin Brenner arrived at Haverford College in March of 2023, originally named Interim Head Coach of the program before taking over as the permanent Head Men’s Soccer Coach position in June of 2023.

Brenner brings a wealth of coaching experience to Haverford, with over 18 years of experience at all three division levels in college athletics. Brenner has additionally served in leadership roles as the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Chair from 2020 to 2021 and as the East Region Chair from 2018 to 2021.

Prior to his time at Haverford, he served as an assistant coach at Division I La Salle University, where he contributed to the team’s success, including an Atlantic 10 playoff berth in 2022.

Rob Brandell
Assistant Coach

Brandell joined the Hobart soccer staff in February of 2022.

In his first season on the sidelines for the Statesmen, Brandell guided the team to an 8-5-5 overall record.Hobart earned the six seed in the Liberty League tournament. The eight wins were highlighted by victories over seventh-ranked Rochester and 20th-ranked Clarkson.

Brandell came to Hobart after spending two years at Gettysburg College as an assistant coach on the soccer and tennis teams. In one season with the Bullets, he helped them to a 13-6-2 overall record. Gettysburg finished runner-up in the Centennial Conference tournament and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. He mentored six All-Centennial Conference selections and had nine players named to the Centennial Conference’s Academic Honor Roll.

Hobart College

Mike Toshack
Head Coach

A former Saints assistant coach who has had an outstanding career as an assistant in professional soccer, Mike Toshack was named the fourth head coach in program history in July 2015, relieving former head coach Bob Durocher, who was promoted to Director of Athletics and Recreation in May 2015.

The 2022 men’s soccer season was the eighth for Toshack, who led the Saints to Liberty League Championship in, 2022, and 2021, and to regular season and tournament titles in 2015, 2018, and 2022. In 2015, St. Lawrence finished that year with a 16-4-2 record and advanced as far as the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In 2018, and 2022 Toshack was named Liberty League Coach of the Year.

Jeff Huffman
Assistant Coach

Jeff Huffman looks forward to his second season at Amherst in 2018 and his 16th overall in collegiate soccer. This will be Huffman’s second season as men’s goalkeeper coach and first as the women’s.

On the men’s side in 2017, Huffman saw all four of his net minders receive at least one start. Seeing the most shots of any Amherst squad in Coach Serpone’s 11 year Amherst tenure, the Amherst goalkeepers combined to lead the NESCAC in saves (94)-while recording the third highest save percentage during conference play.

Alex Ortega
Assistant Coach

Amherst College men’s soccer coach Justin Serpone recently announced the hiring of Alex Ortega as assistant coach of men’s soccer.

Ortega comes from Randolph Macon College, where worked as an assistant coach since prior to the 2019 season.  The Yellow Jackets were 24-15-3 in his time. In 2021 RMC went 5-1-3 in conference play, its least league losses in one season since 1999.

Prior to his time with Randolph Macon, Ortega spent one season at Clark University. During his tenure with the Cougars, the team led the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for goals, assists and points. Clark’s 3.06 goals-per-game were a Top 15 mark in the nation.

Amherst College

Gabriel Robinson
Assistant Coach

Gabriel Robinson is entering his sixth season on the Lafayette men’s soccer coaching staff.

In the 2022 season, Robinson helped guide Lafayette to an overall record of 9-6-4. The Leopards finished the season ranked 25th in the country for team goals-against average (0.895). Six student-athletes were named to All-Patriot League teams and two earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region recognition. Along with on-field success, multiple Leopards earned recognition for their efforts in the classroom. Marcos Kitromilides was named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, Patriot League All-Academic and to the CSC Academic All District Team. Alex Sutton and Yiannis Panayides joined Kitromilides on the CSC Academic All District Team.

Charlie Johnson
Assistant Coach

Johnson joined the Lafayette Men’s Soccer program in the spring of 2021.

In the 2022 season, Johnson assisted Lafayette to a record of 9-6-4 and a Patriot League tournament quarterfinal berth. Lafayette ranked No. 25 in the country for team goals-against average (0.895). Six Leopards were named to All-Patriot League Teams and two earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors.

A native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he comes to College Hill after serving as an assistant coach for multiple men’s soccer programs. Prior to his arrival, Johnson served as an assistant and goalkeeper coach for Pennsylvania State University – Harrisburg men’s soccer program in 2019. During his tenure, PSU Harrisburg captured its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship and appeared in the NCAA Division III Soccer Championship Tournament for the first time in program history. He also assisted in setting a new single-season win record, with 15 wins, and coached goalkeeper, Nick Guglielmetti who led NCAA Division III goalkeepers in total shutouts for the year.
